Arabic Style Massage
Recently I was kindly invited down to experience an Arabic style massage, something I've never had before regardless, when it comes to massages I'm a sucker and simply can't say no and am I glad I never?! Lets just say it was a fabulous yet a calming and soothing experience that I couldn't speak enough of.
I was met by the lovely Zena who was the face behind it all, her story alone I found so fascinating and intriguing that not only does she strive to empower women but also to be a strong independent woman. I'd never seen skin quite like hers, she looked INSANE for her age and her beauty? OMG she was absolutely stunning! She told me her real age and I actually think my jaw hit the floor, her skin was so smooth and with no visible signs of ageing (I was a little jealous!) Why are all Arabic women so stunning?!
Zena is originally from a small village in Yemen and moved to the UK when she was just 5 and is part of a small tribe - where she sources all of her ingredients from (love that!) She told me how good it felt for her sourcing ingredients from her own village and knowing that all the money will go back within the community, this truly put a smile on my face and with everything going on in the world right now was lovely to hear.
Zena does all of her treatments in the most beautiful, quaint & cosy room. The colours and themes are out of this world, beautiful intricate ornaments (I've also included pictures.) It was the type of place that was good for the soul, I felt completely calm & zen whilst there, with the Arabic style music and scent, it reminded me a little of the days when I used to live in Dubai and how much I loved learning about & seeing the Arabic Culture.
My treatment was half an hour long and started off with a cleanse for this Zena used a organic foaming cleanser and had the most amazing techniques, she told me how she adapts special hand techniques which had been passed down from her family & heritage back in Yemen - at this point you can imagine I was blown away. We then moved onto an exfoliation which Zena used Volcanic Rocks (also originated from Yemen) and then followed up with a back steam full of Vitamin C, this was great for really opening up the pores too. If things couldn't get any better the bed I was laying on was heated, I definitely fell asleep at one point.
To finish off the massage, a body mud mask was placed onto my back and then rosewater spritzed all over, the smell at this point was insane, I honestly felt like I was back in Dubai - a very nostalgic smell, don't you just love it when a smell takes you right back to a time or place? I could even still smell the same scents later on in the evening in my hair slightly - I slept like a baby that night.
She also offered to crack my back - erm yes please! I'd not had this done for years and it felt goood! This whole experience I could not recommend enough, this would be fabulous on a cold winters night to just relax, unwind & drift off.
My treatment was £35 for half an hour or £60 for the full hour which I think is fairly cheap for a massage, Zena also mentioned how she gets a lot of women travelling to her up and down the country as is so professional. Along with massages Zena also specialises in skin too, so definitely worth checking her out!
Thank you so much to the lovely Zena for my massage & experience I couldn't thank her enough & I'm so glad I met her! Please all check out her Insta & visit her for a treatment. In times like this we need to support our local businesses and plus she is the most amazing human being and deserves everything and more!
