Vichy 89 Booster

So this is Vichy's Mineral 89 Booster which I'm sure you will have all seen advertised all over the internet and on TV so when I did see this, this sounded like the perfect boost of hydration as it is made with plenty of hyaluronic acid, something which works wonders on our skin.

I ordered this online from Boots as I had tried a small amount of the back of my hand in store but wasn't 100% at the time, until I got home of course and had to order one. The product does come in two sizes 50ml which retails for £22 and 30ml which is £16, I of course went for the bigger size which I sort of regret as I don't feel this really worked well for my skin.

Since the very first use of the product I found that after a couple of hours of applying this it started to pill on my skin, for anybody who doesn't know what is, its a skincare fanatics worst nightmare! Its basically when your skin hasn't had enough time to absorb the product so starts to pile (pill) up on the skin into small little balls - horrible if you ask me. This can also be caused if the skin is not completely clear in terms of exfoliation as potentially there could be dead skin cells left on the surface of the skin which could also cause the pilling.

Now I am certainly no stranger to this, after years of trying out products I know what products work for me and which don't and sadly this just didn't work for me. Now you may be thinking well why is it pilling or did I give it another go? Of course I always like to trail out a product for a while before I give my honest thoughts. So when the first time it started to pill, my skin had been exfoliated as I do like to do this 3 times a week, also I only used a pea size amount of product and I didn't layer anything over top of it as I wanted to see how the product worked alone.

Yet after all of this it still did pill up on the skin, nevertheless I did want to give this a fair chance as always and did continue to use this, however this time I tried layering the booster with other products and yet still the same thing happened. I have tired this alone and paired up with other products which I know work well on my skin yet there was still obvious pilling.

Has anybody else has this same problem? I do have dehydrated skin but usually after exfoliating products do tend to sit reasonably well on my skin, hence why I was a little confused. However even though I don't really rate this product I do still love the brand as a whole, I'm obsessed with their Thermal Water Spa which I've also reviewed and absolutely love.

As always just because this product didn't work for me, doesn't necessarily mean it won't work for you! I'm also eager to know if this just happened with me or not? In terms of whether this kept my skin hydrated, I personally didn't feel like it did as it didn't have the time to work into my skin.

Never mind this is why I love skincare, not everything is always going to work on my skin - yet could work so well on somebody else's, thats skincare for you.
